Multi-Agency Operation in Edgeley Thursday 8th October 2026 |

|
On Thursday 8 October 2026, the Stockport Neighbourhood Team, supported by District Challenger, Safeguarding, Licensing, Immigration Services, and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), executed two warrants in the Edgeley area following concerns relating to exploitation, human trafficking, and modern slavery.
During the visits, a number of individuals were spoken to and safeguarded where appropriate. Two arrests were made by Immigration Services.
We will continue to work closely with partner agencies to review the operation and management of these premises and to identify any further safeguarding, enforcement, or regulatory action required.
The activity formed part of Operation Machinize, a national initiative focused on cash-intensive businesses and aimed at identifying and preventing criminality linked to exploitation, trafficking, modern slavery, and other associated offences.
Anyone with concerns regarding exploitation, trafficking, or modern slavery is encouraged to report information to the police or through the reporting channels listed below.
